@alcinnz I want to install and use Rhapsode. Is there written instruction on that process?

Sometimes I accidentally email dead professors but a shocking number of universities have those forwarded to whoever the current relevant bureaucrat is, usually like an associate dean or something.

(I feel like even though we've had very thorough saturation within our society of electronic mail, most people still don't take advantage of the fact that you can send a letter to like, just about /anyone/.)

Basically just emailed this professor to be like "[citation needed]"

Not in like a, "I doubt you way" but in a "hey this is a foundational claim of this paper and I'm sure that for all y'all in the ivory tower it's chill to just say 'it's been established within the discourse' but out here that shit don't fly"

...I mean I didn't say it like that but that's the essence.

Here's an image showing the map of ~35 days of note-taking.

There are approximately 1,500 records reflected here, representing ~600,000 words of writing captured from the Web and books and ~60,000 words of original note-taking.

Education discourse?

So, I didn't want to hijack anybody else's education discourse thread since it's only tangentially related.

What do people think of the Sudbury School style of education? I haven't exeprienced it myself, but it seems like good training for actual self-direction and democracy, etc.

I was awesome at standard, factory-style school, but unfortunately for my bank account, that doesn't make you good at real life. 😕

From Wikipedia: "A Sudbury school is a type of school, usually for the K-12 age range, where students have complete responsibility for their own education, and the school is run by a direct democracy in which students and staff are equal citizens.[1] Students use their time however they wish, and learn as a by-product of ordinary experience rather than through coursework. There is no predetermined educational syllabus, prescriptive curriculum or standardized instruction."

I'm working hard to avoid self- or cross-referential definitions in my personal records, and so far I've done a pretty good job, but I'm really struggling with "thing, which I'm currently defining as

A thing is something which exists as a discrete thing, usually through being defined through language.

...Which uses thing /twice/.

Update: Resistor colour coding is not somethign I remember like riding a bicycle better get a cheatsheet ready.

My partner looked at me like I was a dang fool when I bought this electrical engineering teaching workstation made by radioshack at a market three years ago, but who's laughing now?!

Me, nervously, about shocking myself or this child.

"I'll be shocked if electrical engineering isn't like riding a bike," I chuckle to myself nervously after agreeing to teach a local youth about the topic.

I'm just saying, I really doubt the white techbros who are in my mentions to assure me that their work is just as centered on ending food apartheid get people trying to take their Website offline or smashing their Funkopops or whatever plastic kitsch it is White people decorate with these days.

mm came back from the library to find that someone had taken the decorative gourds away from my front door and smashed them in the parking lot. Those gourds were a gift from some Karen refugees in the area because I gifted them soil, worms, and seed, when they were starting their garden in the spring. :(

I feel like not enough people expressed upset about this. ^--

My latest essay, “Cyberpunk: A Post-Mortem” is now available on my blog under Creative Commons. I hope you learn something from it:

I've calmed down a bit, and have something to say about this.

Anyone who's ever implied collaborating with the kyriarchy will provide them with stability needs to come reckon with this post, long and hard.

Your kyriarchism is transitioning to a dependency on mutualism, knowing that the principles of the latter will motivate it to sustain members of the latter, even as that membership lives only to enrich the kyriarchy as an institution.

You're choosing to use an institution of death as your interface to life, believing that to do otherwise would kill you.

Reconsider that belief in light of this new evidence. I am begging you with all I have, please.
