‘White “anarchists” forget that their tradition is, first and foremost, about Westphalianism. Not some universal idea of “state” but a modern, colonial concoction is what their luminaries were writing about—even if they didn’t locate it in its proper historical context.’ A word from @RantzFanon on Twitter.

This is re First Nations and other indigenous or non-white-Western and non-Imperialist people groups.

Southern California had another quake, this time a 7.1 right on the heels of the 6.4 quake reported July 4th.

Interesting FYI: The Richter Scale is based on a logarithmic curve of energy released.

The earthquake shown here had approximately 11x the kinetic energy (~4 billion tons of TNT) as the previous 6.4 quake.

Apparently there were reports of an earthquake ranging from 6.8 to 6.4 in Southern California yesterday, and the duration of the quake was abnormally long.

It was felt from LA to Las Vegas and did this:

So why does the quote imply he thinks things are under control? Is the stupidest man in the Universe actually trying to defy and deny the laws of Nature?

Has there *never* been a cooperative multiplayer resource-based settlement-building game? Basically an online commune simulator, based on working together to gather materials and build a community

This seems like a really obvious idea, and one that pretty much designs itself, but I can't remember ever hearing about something like this, which is odd to me

Highlights of today's adventures with Aunt Shawnee and the teenage mutant ninja nephew and niece included ... deer.

A young male and female white-tailed deer. In a field of daisies? Not even kidding. @Kuroshitsujinamui1102 may even have a better pic.

The most effective, available and scalable #carbon #capture technology is reforesting our planet. There are practically no downsides to this. #Restoration could become a driver for a new kind of eco-nomic growth. Imagine a tax-funded initiative to massively deploy forestry programs. This would be a jobs programme as well. Give people housing in the newly reforested areas so they can maintain them. Combine agro-forestry and permaculture techniques to feed the local populations and restore biodiversity. Make it possible for people currently in bullshit jobs or carbon-intensive jobs to retrain to this new system. It is possible. We have the means.

What if Washington D.C. is rigged such that the moment machines of war encroach on its streets, regardless of the purpose ...

(as in why would anybody want to watch a pissing contest between Trump and his other war pissers?)

... the showboaters of eco-destruction get what they deserve?

How long ago would something like that need to have been predicted by the Universe?

The Universe predicted a monster as ugly and hideous as Donald J. Trump:

Plants are what bridge soil to water, water to Oxygen, Oxygen to life. Plants are the vascular system of the Earth; Most living things that are not plants can't go very long with out Oxygen.

Like everything else ecologists and environmental scientists have been saying for ~5 decades, this is an indicator that the destructive nature of modern humans cannot and probably will not be sustained.

"Since 1900, nearly 3 species of seed-bearing plants have disappeared per year ― 500 times faster than they would naturally."

The project looked at more than 330,000 species and found that plants on islands and in the tropics were the most likely to be declared extinct. Trees, shrubs and other woody perennials had the highest probability of disappearing regardless of where they were located. The results were published on 10 June in Nature Ecology & Evolution.

Even though the researchers carefully curated the plant extinction database, the study’s numbers are almost certainly an underestimate of the problem, says Jurriaan de Vos, a phylogeneticist at the University of Basel in Switzerland. Some plant species are “functionally extinct”, he notes, and are present only in botanical gardens or in such small numbers in the wild that researchers don’t expect the population to survive."

If you haven't yet for its role in putting the narcissist also known as D. Trump (and his nefariously evil family) into the US White House, we don't want you anywhere near Ecosteader. Twitter doesn't own the internet; it never has and never will.

Sorry. 😌

Non-Americans using Twitter is perpetuating the problem. You must forsake ALL vectors of the poison which emanates from the greedy and bloated heads and hearts of these bad men who showboat militarism and armies of murder.

Real technologists don't use Twitter because they know how disgusting and perverse it really is.

Twitter's dirty secret is that all it really does, as a core business, is exploit the use of fake spam accounts to follow people (usually marginally "famous" politicians, artsy Hollywood types, or NYC power brokers) to boost follower counts and feed egos. Anyone who aspires is easily ensnared by these vague but wistful notions of potential fame, even if in their heart they know it probably won't happen. Those "lucky" few whose ratio of real to fake followers is actually greater than 20 percent (average is probably more like 10 percent real to 90) are what Twitter uses to pretend it has more engagement than it does:

Once Twitter has the idiots convinced they ARE or just on the brink of being "famous", it ensnares them.

Egoists who are easily brainwashed are especially vulnerable. Next comes perverse psychological warfare: anything to get the small handful actual humans from the egoist's "audience" to engage to spread something, increasing the "believable" scope of the audience.

Twitter doesn't care about anything but trying monetize audiences from those who need false narratives. It is an evil marketing tool for the unintelligent.

"On 10 April, astrophysicists announced that they had captured the 1st ever image of a #blackhole.

No headlines mentioned that the image would have been impossible without open-source software: #Matplotlib, a #Python library for graphing data.

Just 5 days later, the NSF rejected a grant to support that ecosystem, saying that the software lacked sufficient impact.

#opensource is widely acknowledged as crucially important in science, yet it is funded non-sustainably."
